Our Cultural Heart

An ambitious centrepiece for Huddersfield and the whole of Kirklees, Our Cultural Heart will breathe new life into the town centre. This new hive of culture will deliver a surprising, inclusive and social destination for all.

A unique opportunity emerged for DS.Emotion following a pitch with other agencies to develop a brand for this exciting project for Kirklees Council. The came of the back of our work, branding, marketing and engaging with local stakeholders and consumers in Barnsley to deliver an exceptional town centre regeneration project for Barnsley Council and the developers Queensberry.

The town centre regeneration in Huddersfield will see the reinvention of the retail centre, making way for a cultural destination that will attract visitors from not only the region but much further afield, including global audiences. The placemaking project will eventually see the delivery of a new food hall, library, public realm and urban park, museum, art gallery and a live entertainment venue.

The centrepiece for the projects will see the architectural gem of the existing Grade II Listed building, formerly known as Queensgate Market being carefully refurbished to become the bustling new food hall.

Our tasks to date include developing the destinations unique proposition and narrative, naming the destination and creating a stand out identity which will encapsulate all this exciting destination will offer in the future.
